ANNOTATION

Building Community: A Tool Kit for Youth & Adults in Charting Assets and Creating Change is a remarkably through and clear guide to initiating community organizing, youth-adult partnerships, and strengthening community projects in progress. Based on five guiding principles/steps: defining core principles, building group readiness to organize itself and others, design and implementation of a group vision, effecting change, and sustainability. Emphasis throughout this tool kit is on creating democratic, open communication between youth and adults, as well as tapping into community resources. Can be used as a course in community organizing, or chapter by chapter as applicable to projects already in progress.
