ANNOTATION

Political Research Associates is an independent nonprofit research center that serves as a national resource on the U.S. political Right for activists, journalists, educators, policy makers, and the public at large. Founded in 1981, PRA collects and analyzes information on antidemocratic, authoritarian, and racist movements and trends. It publishes materials that explain the ideologies, strategies, agendas, and financing of these movements and their links to each other. This book is an Activist Resource kit, and works to expose the actions and consequences of policies of the Right in the United States in recent decades. Because of the fact that, in the view of the PRA, "the Right has successfully eroded many of the hard-won policy changes promoted by progressives towards economic and social justice," this toolkit strives to oppose these advances by familiarizing activists and progressives with the vision and tactics of the Right. There are five sections, each compiled with the aid of several present and former PRA staff, consultants, and interns. The five sections of the kit are: 1. Overview 2. Organizing Advice 3. Media Tips 4. Fundraising Tips 5. Resources The kit is meant to be a facilitator of dialogue and a way in which activists may share resources. Future revisions are planned to include and reflect upon readers contributions.
