ANNOTATION

This workbook was written to enable women in our communities to increase their awareness of the impact of global economic restructuring on women's lives and to help women envision ways to organize for economic justice from a strong gender, race, and global perspective. The workbook has eight modules that engage participants in small and large group activities drawing on their own experiences and the information supplied in the handouts. Each of the modules includes an overview, objectives, summary of the main points, list of materials required, time needed, and directions for the exercises. Each module also includes a list of resource organizations for further information. The modules covered in this workbook are Introduction to Women's Education in the Global Economy, Are My Clothees Clean? Women and the Global Assembly Line, Don't Get SAPped! Women and Structural Adjustment Programs, Living on the Edge: Welfare, Low-Wage Work, and Homelessness, Who's Counting? Women's Unpaid, Underpaid, Contingent, and Informal-Sector Work, Defending Our Communities: Women and the Environment, Women's Rights Are Human Rights: Abuse of Migrant Women Workers, Sex Trafficking and Prostitution, And Bringing Global Sisterhood Home: Women Get Organized. A Glossary contains definitions of key terms used.
